Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests.

I think that I showed that as an educator I value the success for all students by doing a number of different things in terms of classroom management and preparation.

To start, I gave students the necessary accommodations and adaptations to ensure that they were successful in the course. For example, I had a student with dyslexia, in this IEP it described that they need to write their test in Learning assistance for them to use the Kurzweil software to listen to questions on the test. Additionally, I provided this student with a printed out copy of the note packages each day. This student particularly has a hard time copying notes down with out mixing up letters and numbers from the screen. So, I decided that it was more important that they have the appropriate information that was correct in their notes than the physical act of writing it down. However, we had the understanding that this student had to pay attention to get a copy of the notes, and had to attempt the practice questions along with the rest of the class. This way, they were still engaged in the learning.

I also showed that I have acted in the students best interests through my classroom management techniques. I had a couple of students in my math 10 course who could not handle sitting by any other students. When they had someone be side them, they would be talking, and playing with things in their bag instead of listening and participating in the lesson. This would be really disruptive to the students around them, trying to listen and participate in the lesson. So, I had to move them to their own spaces. Even though the students were upset because they were not near their friends, the student was having better success in their learning. When sitting on their own the student would ask and answer questions, and work on the practice questions.
